Terms of Service
Effective October 29, 2026
These terms cover your use of Porchdog, an after-hours call answering service for home service businesses. Porchdog is run by its owner as a sole proprietorship based in Florida. By requesting a pilot or using the service, you agree to these terms. Questions go to raz.chiriac@gmail.com.
The service
Porchdog answers calls your business forwards to it, collects the caller's details, sends you a text alert when a caller reports an emergency, and emails you a summary of each night's calls. Pilots are free for 30 days with no contract. Paid plans are described on our website and in any written agreement we sign with you.
Not an emergency service
Porchdog is not a replacement for 911 or for emergency services. Our assistant tells callers who describe a gas leak, carbon monoxide, fire or injury to get to safety and call 911. We work to deliver alerts quickly, but calls, texts and emails can be delayed or fail for reasons outside our control, and you remain responsible for how your business responds to customers.
Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate contact details and keep them up to date.
- Forward only phone lines you are authorized to forward.
- Follow the laws that apply to your business, including any notices you give callers about call recording.
SMS program: Porchdog Emergency Alerts
- What you get. Text alerts sent to the business owner's own mobile number when someone calls the business after hours and reports an emergency. Each alert includes the caller's name, callback number, address and a short summary.
- How you opt in. By checking the optional text alert box on our pilot form, or by confirming in writing during onboarding. Opting in is not a condition of using Porchdog. Owners who don't opt in get call summaries by email only.
- How often. Message frequency varies with your call volume, usually a few messages per week.
- Cost. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Opt out. Reply STOP to any message to stop all texts. You'll get one confirmation text and no more messages after that. You can rejoin by replying START or by asking us in writing.
- Help. Reply HELP to any message, or email raz.chiriac@gmail.com.
- Carriers. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Privacy. We do not share or sell your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties for marketing. See our Privacy Policy.
Fees and cancellation
The pilot is free. If you continue on a paid plan, fees, any setup fee and the notice period for canceling are set out on our website or in your written agreement. You can stop using the service at any time by asking us to stop answering your calls.
Limits on our liability
The service is provided as is. To the fullest extent the law allows, Porchdog is not liable for lost jobs, lost profits, or indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page and email business owners about significant changes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
